A global leader in glass manufacturing is seeking a motivated individual to join their Thin Film Technology Resource Group in Ormskirk. The role involves developing new coated products and supporting R&D with responsibilities in operating laboratory equipment, conducting tests, and preparing glass substrates. Candidates should possess a BTEC or HNC in a relevant field and have an interest in engineering and science. Competitive salary and benefits provided.
Location: Ormskirk, West Lancashire.
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

This position is within the Thin Film Technology Resource Group, part of the global R&D function. This group is responsible for developing new coated products and processes to support the NSG Groups goal of expanding its value-added business and providing technical support to commercial and manufacturing teams.
The successful candidate will join a team investigating new coatings applied through chemical vapour deposition. They will work on various projects, ranging from short-term incremental developments to longer-term, broader research initiatives. Responsibilities will focus on the operation and maintenance of laboratory coating and ancillary equipment, depositing thin films on glass and preparation of substrates. Additional activities would include conducting durability tests and measuring coated glass properties such as optical characteristics, electrical properties, and film thickness as required.
