Overview

Our client, a highly respected international research and publishing organisation within the legal sector, is seeking talented Research Analysts to join their North America-focused research division. This London-based team specialises in analysing the US and Canadian legal markets and operates on North America-facing hours (12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. UK time).

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for legal research, market analysis, and writing who are eager to develop a deep understanding of the North American legal landscape.

The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting interviews with law firms and clients, analysing data and feedback, and producing high-quality editorial content and rankings. This role reports directly to the North America Research Manager and forms part of a collaborative, high-performing team.

The company offers a hybrid working model, with team members expected to be in the London office two days per week.

Key Responsibilities
Research
  • Undertake background research to develop a comprehensive understanding of assigned legal practice areas and jurisdictions.
  • Identify and contact relevant legal professionals for interviews, with guidance from the Research Manager.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with lawyers, in-house counsel, and other industry experts via phone or online survey.
  • Record and track all research communications accurately, ensuring progress is monitored and deadlines are met.
  • Pursue additional leads through both company-provided resources and independent investigation.
  • Build relationships with key figures in the North American legal market and maintain a strong awareness of current trends and developments.
Analysis
  • Review and evaluate research findings to produce accurate, objective market rankings and insights.
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of assigned regions and practice areas through interviews and desk-based research.
  • Monitor industry changes and identify opportunities for deeper or expanded coverage.
  • Assess the strengths and reputations of law firms and individual practitioners to support reliable and insightful market analysis.
Editorial
  • Produce well-written, business-focused editorial content summarising research findings for publication.
  • Ensure all editorial output is accurate, comprehensive, and adheres to confidentiality standards.
  • Highlight the distinctive qualities of each firm and practitioner, explaining their market appeal and professional reputation.
  • Work within set editorial deadlines, managing workload efficiently to ensure timely delivery.
  • Proactively communicate challenges or findings that may impact future research phases and contribute to internal reports.
