Job description

This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements. The University of Leeds is one of the top 80 universities in the world. We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities. Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe. Are you interested in supporting the work of high-profile national research projects at the forefront of climate and environmental science? Do you have excellent communication and organisational skills, and experience of providing administrative support for research projects, meetings and events? The role of Research Administrator will provide support to two key initiatives within the Faculty of Environment: (1) The Production and Consumption Transformations (PACT) Centre, a collaborative research project that explores how we can align low carbon production and consumption to deliver the step change needed to meet our 2030 targets and set a path towards a fair and just net zero transition. This project brings together three leading UK universities with government partners to deliver actionable insights and ensure real-world impact; (2) PROFEED, a collaborative research project that enhances the resilience of EU farming systems. Climate change and soil degradation challenge the resilience of European farming systems, making the transition to locally sourced, sustainable protein crops an urgent priority. PROFEED responds to this challenge by establishing a comprehensive, multi-actor innovation framework to accelerate European self-sufficiency in plant proteins for feed, focusing on viable and sustainable alternatives. The role will involve working with a vibrant and growing group of researchers based primarily in the Faculty of Environment and with extensive interdisciplinary collaborations across the University, and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). As part of the Horizons Europe project, you will work with a wide range of national and international collaborators. You will act as a key point of contact for researchers, external collaborators, and managers, supporting a wide range of activities including collating reports, coordinating high-level meetings, developing communications materials and managing data. The ideal candidate will bring experience of supporting research projects, an efficient and proactive approach, and the ability to work across organisational boundaries. An interest in climate, environmental and sustainability science would also be an advantage. ThIs role will sit in our wider Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability Support Team, and work closely with academic leaders involved in sustainability research. There may also be opportunities to support other research partnerships and initiatives within the school over time. Please note that due to Home Office visa requirements, this role is not suitable for first-time Skilled Worker visa applicants. Information on other visa options is available at: https://www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration/work-visas
