Job summary

The University of Edinburgh is seeking a Research Accountant to lead the implementation of a financial control environment within the Research Grants Team. You will work on legacy grant reviews, drive backlog reduction, and provide progress reporting to stakeholders.

This full-time, 35-hour-per-week appointment on a fixed-term 18-month contract offers opportunities to collaborate across the University, develop processes, and contribute to research funding administration.

The Research Grants Team work closely with the University of Edinburgh research and professional service communities, partners and funders, to maximise the research academic colleagues can undertake for the funding they receive. Our expert team delivers financial management and post award administration of the University’s 3,500 research grants.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Accountant who will play a leading role in the implementation of a financial control environment to drive the project forward and meet the objectives.

You will lead a project team focussed on resolving legacy grant reviews, bringing backlog to business as usual levels, providing progress reporting and implementation changes from lessons learned.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
