About the Role/team

We’re looking for a skilled and methodical Repairs Inspection Technician to join our Repairs & Compliance team. You’ll carry out detailed inspections of residential properties, focusing on identifying and reporting hazards (particularly damp and mould) in line with Awaab’s Law and other housing safety regulations.

You’ll ensure emergency and significant hazards are investigated and resolved within statutory timeframes, support the Repairs Supervisor with job specifications, and carry out minor works where needed. You’ll work closely with residents, internal teams, and external contractors to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections in response to damp, mould, and other hazards
  • Ensure emergency hazards are actioned within 24 hours; significant hazards investigated within 10 working days
  • Diagnose trade-specific issues and define repair scopes
  • Raise repair orders using SOR codes and trade knowledge
  • Carry out minor repairs to support timely turnaround
  • Liaise with residents, teams, and contractors to coordinate access and resolve issues
  • Produce clear reports with photographic evidence and risk categorisation
  • Support high-priority cases and defect rectification
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure performance and quality standards
  • Contribute to team KPIs and collaborate across repairs, compliance, and housing teams
What We’re Looking For
Must haves
  • Relevant qualification in Housing or Building, or suitable experience in residential property
  • Trade qualification or equivalent experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or general building maintenance
  • Experience in reactive repairs and maintenance within social housing
  • Ability to identify building defects and diagnose trade-related issues
  • Awareness of planning and building regulations
  • Knowledge of HHSRS and Awaab’s Law
  • Strong problem-solving skills and methodical approach
  • Health & Safety awareness and ability to supervise safe practices
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and prioritise effectively
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork across all levels
  • Ability to work independently with lone worker awareness
  • Customer-focused approach and excellent time management
  • Full manual driving licence
