Job summary

Sphere Solutions is seeking a skilled Electrician for a contractor role in the renewables sector, primarily based in Merthyr Tydfil with sites across South Wales. You will install, maintain and repair electrical systems for solar and wind projects, using hand and power tools to high industry standards.

Applicants should have 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3, 2391 and ideally battery storage and solar PV experience, with strong problem-solving and on-site collaboration to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with electrical systems in renewable energy or related fields.
• Proficiency in using hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, wire strippers, etc., for precise electrical work.
• Competence with power tools including drills, saws, and other equipment necessary for installation tasks.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices within the renewable energy industry.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting electrical faults.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively on-site.
• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• 2391 Inspection & Testing
• Battery Storage qualification (preferred)
• Previous Solar PV installation experience

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for renewable energy projects, including solar panels and wind turbines.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete electrical tasks according to industry standards.
• Conduct inspections of electrical components to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues on-site, diagnosing faults efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to ensure timely project completion.
• Follow health and safety protocols rigorously during all phases of installation and maintenance work.
• Document work activities accurately, including inspection reports and maintenance logs.
• Assist in testing electrical systems post-installation to verify proper operation.
