Job summary

JN Technical Ltd is seeking an experienced Connection Designer to join a UK structural steel fabricator on a remote basis. This role focuses on delivering safe, compliant connection designs to Eurocodes/BS standards while interpreting GA drawings and 3D models for varied steel projects.

You will work with engineers, detailers and fabrication teams to prepare calculations and reports, support tender phases, and ensure buildability and safety, with clear communication across the project team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a structural steel connection designer within a UK fabrication or consultancy.
• Knowledge of Eurocode 3 and British Standards.
• Experience with connection design software (IDEA StatiCa, Tekla Tedds, MasterSeries).
• Ability to interpret GA drawings, fabrication drawings and 3D models.

Responsibilities

• Produce safe, efficient, and compliant structural steel connection designs to Eurocodes/BS standards.
• Prepare detailed calculations, sketches, and design reports for approval.
• Collaborate with structural engineers, detailers, and fabrication teams to resolve technical queries.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models to determine connection requirements.
• Provide technical input during tender, design, and construction phases.
• Ensure all designs meet safety, quality, and fabrication requirements.
• Support value engineering and buildability improvements.
• Work independently while maintaining clear communication with the wider project team.
