Job summary

Jobs247 seeks a Remote Staff Software Engineer for Data Platforms to drive technical strategy and deliver scalable data solutions. You will lead architectural decisions, guide engineers, and collaborate with data leaders to raise the bar on product quality.

You’ll work in a flexible, cloud-native environment with Kubernetes, Databricks, Spark, and modern CI/CD, while mentoring teams and shaping data models for large-scale healthcare data initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong cloud engineering experience in Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Deep Python programming and IaC with Terraform/Ansible.
• Proficient in modern agile practices: code reviews, TDD, CI/CD, pairing.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Git/GitHub in scalable environments.
• Familiarity with data platforms, data lakes/lakehouses and Spark/Databricks.
• Knowledge of data modelling and relational databases; health data models a plus.

Job description

In this Remote Staff Software Engineer - Data Platforms role, you will lead decision-making on critical technical strategy and implementations which affect your business area.

1st interview with our Head of Data Engineering (30 min) - this is an opportunity to.

Experience that matters

• Healthcare experience isn’t essential, but an interest in our mission
• Highly proficient in cloud engineering (preferably in Azure; AWS and GCP) Demonstrable knowledge and
• Highly proficient working with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) Highly proficient in Python
• Highly proficient in modern, agile development practices like code review, TDD, CI/CD and pairing using tools like Git and GitHub
• You’ll need experience working in small, growing organisations with a high degree of ambiguity, where flexibility is valued
• Knowledge of good data modelling and design patterns; in-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g, while you have led the architectural design of systems
• Of FHIR and health data models (OMOP, PCORnet, i2b2, CDISC) would be advantageous
• Essential Duties
• In building solutions centred around moving and processing large amounts of data at pace and scale, using cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm and Docker
• Experience with Spark, Databricks, data lakes/lakehouses

• Salary: £105,000 per annum
