Job summary

NCFE is recruiting a Software Developer to join the Software Delivery team on a permanent, home-based/remote basis. You’ll work with an Agile team to design and implement world-class products and services used for UK and international qualifications.

The role emphasizes delivering high-quality code, participating in sprint ceremonies, and continuously updating technical skills. You’ll collaborate with product owners and QA, estimate effort, and explore automation to improve efficiency, while

Qualifications

• Proven software development experience
• Strong Microsoft .NET, .NET Core, ASP.NET, C#, MVC, LINQ, Web API skills
• A good working knowledge of SQL Server, T‑SQL, MongoDB, Windows Server, Visual Studio, JavaScript, TypeScript, KnockoutJS
• A good knowledge of object-oriented concepts and design patterns
• Experience in Test Driven Development including ability to write unit tests
• Strong problem-solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain software components in line with coding standards and best practices
• Create user-focused solutions and interfaces that deliver an effective and seamless user experience
• Produce high-quality code by utilising the latest engineering best practices and tools
• Actively participate in our daily scrums, contribute, and engage in the sprint planning, sprint review and sprint retrospective meetings
• Constantly update your technical knowledge and skills
• Work alongside our product owner, test team and the development team to review and improve product backlog items
• Review requirements to provide estimates (cost and time) on new software development ideas and provide feedback to the internal customer on request
• Identify areas of automation to improve business efficiency and effectiveness
• Ensure any technical solutions are sound, with appropriate consideration for performance, scalability, security and supportability
