Job summary

Shopify in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Shopify Developer for Professional Services to architect and deliver native Shopify Plus storefronts on billable engagements. You’ll own discovery, design, and hands-on implementation across themes, checkout, and extensions, with global brands and multi-market migrations.

You’ll collaborate with Solution Engineering, Customer Success, Engineering and Product, scope work, set expectations, and drive measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on Shopify Plus development experience for enterprise merchants.
• Deep expertise in Shopify Themes and Liquid, including Online Store 2.0 architecture and theme settings.
• Hands-on experience across Shopify's Plus extensibility surfaces — Checkout UI Extensions, Theme App Extensions, Functions, App Bridge.
• Experience with Plus-specific complexity: expansion stores, Shopify Markets and multi-region setups, B2B, and custom app development.
• Strong GraphQL and REST proficiency across Admin and Storefront APIs, with webhooks and rate-limit-aware patterns.
• Content modeling with metafields and metaobjects.
• Fluency with Shopify CLI, Git-based workflows, and automated checks (Theme Check, ESLint/TypeScript).
• Demonstrated use of AI tools to ship production code and speed up delivery.
• Excellent communication with engineers and executives, turning ambiguous goals into measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship native Shopify Plus storefronts — leading discovery, design, and hands-on implementation across themes, checkout, and app/extension surfaces
• Own migrations for merchants from legacy platforms: assess architecture, define target state on Plus, and sequence work
• Work at Plus scale — expansion stores, multi-market and multi-currency setups, B2B alongside DTC, high-traffic launches, and operational surfaces Plus merchants run on
• Set performance standards and coach teams to hit Core Web Vitals and rendering targets
• Make build calls and explain choices — Liquid vs. Hydrogen/Oxygen, native vs. app, Checkout Extensibility, and metafield/utils modeling
• Scale impact by building reusable reference implementations, accelerators, and internal tooling (Theme App Extensions, Checkout UI Extensions, Functions)
• Collaborate across Solution/Enterprise Architects, Merchant Success, Product, and Engineering to unblock complexity and feed learnings back into roadmaps
• Communicate with engineers and executives, delivering clear recommendations and tradeoffs
