Job summary

NHS Orkney in Kirkwall is offering a Clinical Fellow vacancy within a consultant‑led team delivering inpatient, emergency and outpatient care. You will work in a modern island facility, expanding skills in remote and rural medicine on Orkney.

The post supports a six‑month rotational pattern with options for 6, 12 or 18 months, and requires residency within the UK. Accommodation is available, with a Distant Islands Allowance pro rata per annum.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic resident doctors keen to experience Remote and Rural Medicine on an island setting.
• Willingness to live and work in Orkney and participate in a six‑month rotational rota.
• Registered physician or eligible for registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine and urgent care for patients of all ages.
• Triage, treat and stabilise patients while awaiting emergency retrievals.
• Develop clinical skills in remote and rural medicine within a consultant‑led team.
