Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Planning Lawyer for a 3-6 month contract with a local authority in Nottingham. The role focuses on providing high-quality advice on planning and highways matters, managing a varied caseload, and drafting complex planning agreements.

You will draft and negotiate Section 106 Agreements, prepare Highways Agreements under Sections 38 and 278, and advise officers, members and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• PQE of 5+ years in planning law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating Section 106 Agreements.
• Experience preparing Highways Agreements under S38/S278.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and complete Section 106 Agreements.
• Prepare Highways Agreements under Sections 38 and 278.
• Provide advice on planning and highways matters.
• Undertake complex drafting work and provide practical solutions.
• Advise on strategic planning matters and development proposals.
• Support planning officers and elected members with timely advice.
• Review planning applications and identify risks.
• Draft and advise on Certificates of Lawful Use and Development when needed.
• Attend meetings and Planning Committee as required.
• Manage a varied caseload independently and record time and documents.
• Collaborate with Legal Services, Planning, Highways and other departments.
