Job summary

The Pharmacist Network is expanding its remote-based Pharmacy Technician team to support General Practices across the UK. The role requires CPPE pathway completion or active enrollment, GP/primary care experience, and GPhC registration. You will provide clinical support, ensure safe medicine use, and work within the evolving practice team.

This is a part-time role (2–3 days, 15–22.5 hrs/week) with focus on patient care, governance, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
• Hold a Professional registration with GPhC.
• Completion of the CPPE Primary Care pathway with proven certification, or actively enrolled.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in a general practice/Primary care setting.
• Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).

Responsibilities

• Medication Reconciliation of clinical letters and Hospital Discharge Summaries.
• Medicine Management including prescription screening and processing.
• Support with the Repeat Dispending process.
• Respond to patient medication queries.
• Coordinate with local pharmacies to manage stock levels and shortages.
• Medication synchronisation with regular repeat prescriptions.
• Oversee medication recall processes and safety checks.
• Doac Monitoring.
• Prescribing audits in house and for local schemes.
• Review Shared Care Protocols and act on them.
• Action medicines safety alerts from CAS/MHRA/ICB.
• Complete Level 1 and 2 Medication reviews.
• Assist with Pre-SMR Screening.
• Create and run reports in practice systems to identify patients for review.

Job responsibilities

About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will have successfully completed the CPPE pathway or currently be enrolled. In your day‑to‑day role, you will help ensure the smooth running of general practice by providing expert clinical support and advice to patients, promoting the safe and effective use of medicines, and consistently working within the competencies of your role, with active support from an experienced senior TPN team member and the wider Pharmacy Technician team.

This is an evolving role with continuous scope for development as we expand our pharmacy technician team.

Job Duties

• Medication Reconciliation of clinical letters and Hospital Discharge Summaries
• Medicine Management including prescription screening and processing
• Supporting with the ‘Repeat Dispending’ process
• Responding and communicating to patient related medication queries
• Coordinating with local pharmacies to manage stock levels and shortages
• Medication synchronisation in line with regular repeat prescription
• To oversee medication recall processes, ensuring timely responses and compliance. (e.g BP, blood tests, annual reviews)
• Doac Monitoring
• Prescribing audits in house, plus those associated with CQC/QOF or local incentive schemes as set by the Prescribing Team/ICB (training can be provided)
• Reviewing existing and new Shared Care Protocols and acting on them appropriately
• To action medicines safety alerts from CAS/MHRA/ICB
• To complete Level 1 and 2 Medication reviews (training can be given)
• Assisting with Pre-SMR (Structure Medication Review) Screening (training can be given)
• Create and run reports within the practice clinical systems to identify/stratify patients for review
