Job summary

CACTUS Life Sciences is seeking a Medical Communications Specialist to develop and refine scientific materials for global pharma clients. You will write, proofread, and data-check slides, abstracts, posters, and digital content, collaborating with senior colleagues and clients.

This remote-first role requires travel 2-4 times per year and offers a comprehensive benefits package to support health, wellbeing, and career growth.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in medical communications within a pharma company or medical communications agency.
• PhD/MD (Pharmacology) OR PhD (Life Sciences) OR PharmD with a good understanding of clinical research and medical communication.
• Willingness to travel as required, typically 2-4 trips per year.
• Strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to perform well under pressure.
• Clear, concise, scientific writing style, with high attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt writing style to suit different materials and audiences.
• Literature reviewing and evaluation capabilities.
• Very good working knowledge of MS Office and basic knowledge of biostatistics.
• Shows eagerness to learn and apply AI tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Use scientific expertise to develop high-quality client-ready materials like slides, abstracts, posters, infographics, and training content.
• Provide intellectual input across document types and help make cutting-edge research accessible to target audiences.
• Attend client meetings to support senior team members and liaise with clients, HCPs, and vendors.
• Build trusting relationships with international pharmaceutical clients, healthcare professionals, authors, reviewers, and key opinion leaders.
• Communicate effectively with team members, authors, clients, and vendors.
• Attend trainings to hone skills and contribute to organizational objectives.
• Apply scientific and creative knowledge to develop and execute medical communications initiatives in the digital space.
• Ensure all materials comply with client requirements/SOPs, style guides, and templates.
• Share best practices and client preferences within the team.
