Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to lead accounting operations in a fully remote role. The role requires a strategic thinker with deep experience in financial management, regulatory compliance, and team leadership across remote teams.

Responsibilities include overseeing all accounting activities, ensuring accurate reporting under IFRS/GAAP, and driving the company’s financial strategy. A CA(SA)/CPA and 10+ years of finance experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CA(SA) or CPA designation mandatory.
• 10+ years progressive accounting/finance experience, 5+ years in controller/senior management.
• Experience managing remote accounting teams and operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations: AP, AR, GL, payroll.
• Manage month-end and year-end closes for timely financials.
• Ensure IFRS/GAAP compliance and regulatory reporting.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Lead and mentor remote accounting team.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management.

About the Role

Our client is searching for a seasoned and results-oriented Financial Controller to lead their accounting operations on a fully remote basis. This executive-level position requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in financial management, regulatory compliance, and team leadership. You will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting, and driving financial strategy for the organization, regardless of physical location.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP), laws, and regulations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team remotely.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Provide strategic financial guidance and support to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; professional designation (e.g., CA(SA), CPA) is mandatory.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years in a controller or senior accounting management role.
• Proven experience managing remote accounting teams and operations.
• Expert knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
• Proficiency in large-scale ERP systems and advanced data analysis tools.
