Job summary

Norton Rose Fulbright in London is building a new R&D data capability to deliver data-driven and AI-enabled products for legal services. The Data Scientist & Engineer will join a hands-on hybrid team to create governed data assets, reliable pipelines and lakehouse models using Microsoft Fabric and Databricks.

You will turn priority data sources into reusable assets, develop NLP and ML models, ensure data quality and provenance, and publish features through Fabric/Databricks APIs or products,

Qualifications

• Essential Skills and Experience items include: 3+ years in hybrid data-engineering and applied-data-science role with pipelines, data assets and analytical models in Fabric and Databricks.
• Advanced Python, SQL and PySpark for data transformation and ML libraries.
• Experience designing scalable data pipelines, lakehouse models, Delta and SQL transformations, and data-quality controls in Fabric and Databricks.
• Strong grounding in exploratory data analysis, statistics, feature engineering and model validation.
• Practical experience with NLP, information extraction, embeddings or related techniques for document-heavy data.
• Understanding of data lineage, provenance, metadata, access controls, and sensitive data handling.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, API integration, CI/CD and version-controlled deployment in Fabric and Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Data Programme and data owners to assess and combine priority data sources.
• Design, build and operate pipelines in Fabric/Databricks to ingest, clean, standardise and publish data assets.
• Create lakehouse models, data contracts and reusable features for clients, organisations, matters and topics.
• Implement data-quality checks, lineage, provenance, observability and change management.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and data issues; identify modeling opportunities.
• Develop, compare and validate ML/AI models for classification, ranking and forecasting.
• Use NLP and embeddings for document-heavy data tasks like entity resolution and information extraction.
• Publish curated datasets and features via Fabric/Databricks APIs and product features.
