Overview
Data Protection Officer – Remote
We working with a leading international professional services firm to recruit a Data Protection Officer (DPO). This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-looking organisation with a strong compliance culture and a global footprint.
As the designated DPO, youll play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the firms data protection strategy across multiple jurisdictions. Youll work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure robust compliance with data protection laws, foster awareness and embed best practices throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Act as the primary contact for all data protection matters across the firm.
 - Advise internal stakeholders on data protection obligations, including supplier contracts, client terms and regulatory queries.
 - Lead the development and continuous improvement of the firms data protection framework, including policies, privacy notices and templates.
 
Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain and enhance data processing protocols and internal data transfer agreements.
 - Conduct risk assessments and support the completion of DPIAs.
 - Manage and update the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) in line with GDPR requirements.
 - Lead compliance monitoring reviews and identify areas for improvement.
 
Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver induction and refresher training modules.
 - Provide tailored training sessions for partners, shareholders and staff.
 - Promote a culture of data protection awareness across the organisation.
 
Collaboration & Communication
- Build strong relationships across departments including Legal, IT, HR and Marketing.
 - Serve as the main point of contact for data protection authorities and regulators.
 
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
- Extensive experience in compliance, legal, risk, or operational control roles with a focus on data protection.
 - Proven track record in developing and implementing data protection frameworks in regulated environments.
 - Strong understanding of UK, EU and Channel Islands data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR).
 - Experience in policy writing, training delivery and senior stakeholder engagement.
 - Ability to conduct horizon scanning and apply international regulatory developments to business strategy.
 - Excellent communication skills with a pragmatic, risk-based approach.
