Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Remediation Engineer in Manchester to support remediation schemes from planning through delivery. The role offers hands-on project involvement across brownfield redevelopment and contaminated land projects in the North West.

You will work with experienced environmental and engineering professionals, contributing to design solutions, data interpretation, and technical reporting. Flexible/hybrid working arrangements and development support are provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Remediation Engineer or similar contaminated land role.
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, or related discipline.
  • Good understanding of contaminated land legislation and remediation techniques.
  • Experience supporting remediation projects and site-based remediation works.
  • Strong report writing and technical interpretation skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with delivery of remediation projects from planning through to completion.
  • Support development of remediation strategies and remedial design solutions.
  • Supervise remediation contractors and site-based activities.
  • Undertaking site assessments and interpreting environmental and geological data.
  • Prepare technical reports, remediation verification reports, and risk assessments.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support project management activities, including programme and budget monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and health and safety requirements.
  • Contribute to successful delivery of contaminated land and brownfield projects.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working as a Remediation Engineer, Geo-Environmental Engineer, Environmental Engineer, or within a similar contaminated land role
  • Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Good understanding of contaminated land legislation and remediation techniques
  • Experience supporting remediation projects and site‑based remediation works
  • Strong report writing and technical interpretation skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK
