1625 Independent People is seeking Relief Workers for Woodleaze in Yate to support young people aged 16-25. You will help create a safe environment, respond to incidents, and work ad hoc shifts including early, late and waking nights. Training in PIE/TIP may be provided as needed.

We are excited to be recruiting into our Yate based Woodleaze Team. Woodleaze is a purpose built, high specification accommodation service supporting up to 18 young people aged 16-25.

Relief Workers can pick up a range of shifts including Earlies (7am-3pm), Lates (2pm-10pm) and waking nights (9:30pm-7:30am) throughout the year.

Who are we?

We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the Southwest, working with over 1,500 young people. How we work

At 1625 our work is rooted in Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and Trauma‑Informed Practice (TIP). Our Psychologically Informed Framework shapes how we build relationships, use our spaces, and support young people. This means we prioritise safety, trust, collaboration, and understanding the impact of trauma in every interaction. You don’t need prior experience in PIE or TIP to apply - we’ll support you to learn and develop these approaches in the role.

What you will be doing:

• Creating a safe and welcoming environment for the young people we support, including under 18s who may be Ofsted in‑scope to be safe, secure and thrive.
• Being vigilant to ensure the security of the building when on shift, including responding appropriately any unacceptable or challenging behaviour.
• Working ad hoc shifts of your choice in our Woodleaze Supported Accommodation scheme.
• Being well organised, efficient, and effective, you will ensure accurate and timely communication and record keeping, including reporting young people related matters, repairs, health and safety concerns etc.
• Providing ad hoc support to young people in line with agreed Support Goals.

You will be in the Woodleaze team.

Contract details:

• Hours per week: Ad hoc as required, encompassing Early (7am-3pm), Late, 2pm-10pm and Waking nights (9:30pm-7:30am) 365 days per year, including bank holidays
• Pay: Day shifts - £13.45 per hour, Waking night shifts - £13.55 per hour, Time and a half on bank holidays
• The location: You will be based in Woodleaze in Yate, with free and ample parking and within walking distance of the train station and multiple bus stops with good transport links.
