Job summary

ISS Facilities Services in Birmingham is seeking a reliable Security Relief Officer to cover day and night shifts on a permanent basis. You will safeguard client sites, assist visitors and maintain security records.

The role involves patrols, responding to alarms, enforcing access control and collaborating with emergency services when needed.

A valid SIA licence and flexible weekend availability are required; successful candidates may enroll on an apprenticeship during training.

Qualifications

• Valid SIA licence.
• Proven experience in security or related field.
• Strong observational and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, nights and weekends.
• New recruits will be encouraged to enrol onto the relevant apprenticeship as part of their training and development

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the physical security of client premises
• Conduct regular patrols
• Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, taking appropriate action
• Enforce access control and verify the identity of individuals on-site
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting and guiding visitors
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of security-related activities
• Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency services when necessary
• Ensure high standards at all times, maintaining the professional image of ISS
• Undertake induction and training as needed
• Promote a secure and safe working environment at client sites
