Job summary

Mitie is seeking experienced security professionals to join our Security Guard teams nationwide for our contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This role involves travel across multiple DWP sites within the South Wales region and requires a valid full UK driving licence.

You will patrol premises, identify threats, respond to emergencies, liaise with police and emergency services, and deliver excellent customer service to staff and visitors.

Qualifications

• Proven security experience in a corporate or public sector setting.
• Valid UK driving licence is required.
• SIA licence required; Door Supervisor licence preferred.

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for DWP staff, visitors, and property.
• Conduct regular patrols of the premises to identify potential security threats.
• Respond effectively to emergencies or suspicious situations.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as required.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and provide assistance to staff and visitors regarding any security-related matters.
• Perform routine security checks and submit incident reports as appropriate.
• Comply with all Mitie and DWP security policies, procedures, and regulations.

Security and Health & Safety

• Identify and immediately report any health and safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
• Remain vigilant to any threats or changes within the work environment and take the appropriate action to mitigate the risk of disruption, loss, or damage.
• Exercise sound judgement and initiative by immediately escalating matters when a situation appears to be escalating.
• Maintain professional conduct when facing difficult situations and challenging individuals.
• Complete accurate, detailed notebook entries as soon as practicable following any incident, which will form part of the incident reporting process.
• Adhere to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
• Contact emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
