Job summary

Childbase Partnership Limited is seeking a Relief Nursery Practitioner to provide care for babies and young children at Lime Grove Day Nursery in Hemel Hempstead.

The role offers varied relief shifts across nurseries, with a focus on safeguarding, play-based learning and strong collaboration with families and staff. DBS checks and right to work in the UK are required; NHS wellbeing and development opportunities are included.

Qualifications

  • Good communication and partnership skills with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of child development and EYFS knowledge is advantageous.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents and children, building strong positive relationships.

Role Overview

Position: Relief Nursery Practitioner

Location: Lime Grove Day Nursery, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1JS

Contract: Permanent, 0 hours/week, 52 weeks/year

Working Pattern: Varied, ad‑hoc shifts between 07:30-18:30, Monday‑Friday

Salary: £12.87‑£14.33 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Deliver care for babies and children aged five and under in an early years environment.
  • Implement engaging play and exploration activities planned by the Key Person to support children’s learning journeys.
  • Contribute to observations and support children’s learning journeys.
  • Advocate for safeguarding and ensure children feel safe, valued and their well‑being is promoted.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents and children, building strong positive relationships.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Some experience caring for babies and children up to five years old, ideally in an early‑years setting.
  • Holding a DfE approved early years qualification at level 2 or above is advantageous though not essential.
  • Knowledge of child development and, ideally, EYFS knowledge.
  • Ability to implement EYFS‑based activities and contribute to observations.
  • Good communication and partnership skills with children, parents and colleagues.
