Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council’s Catering Services are recruiting General Kitchen Assistants to support 56 schools. You will assist with preparation, presentation and service of school meals, ensuring a safe, clean environment for pupils and staff.

The role covers working across multiple schools, with training provided for touch screen registers, and requires Level Two Food Hygiene Certificate; Enhanced DBS check with the Children's Barred List is a requirement.

Job description

Providing primary, secondary and special school meals to 56 schools across the county borough, Catering Services have a variety of opportunities for you to work as a General Kitchen Assistant across their service and would like to hear from you.

The role includes assisting in the preparation, presentation and service of school meals, whilst providing a safe, clean environment to pupils and staff. You will be required to lay out dining tables and chairs and, in some schools, operate a touch screen terminal - training will be provided upon start.

Cover at schools across the County Borough is a requirement of the role as well as having a Level Two Food Hygiene Certificate; training will be provided if necessary to help you obtain this.

Working hours will be confirmed upon appointment but will be between the hours of 10.00am and 2.30pm, to support the mid - morning break and lunchtime periods, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
