Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council is seeking General Kitchen Assistants to support school meal service across 56 schools in the county. You will help prepare, present and serve meals while ensuring a safe and clean dining area for pupils and staff.

Hours are term-time, usually between 10:00 and 14:30, with training provided for DBS and Food Hygiene. The role requires covering various schools and a Level Two Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

• Level Two Food Hygiene Certificate required.
• Enhanced DBS check required (DBS check).
• Training will be provided if necessary to obtain the DBS/Certificate.

Providing primary, secondary and special school meals to 56 schools across the county borough, Catering Services have a variety of opportunities for you to work as a General Kitchen Assistant across their service and would like to hear from you.

The role includes assisting in the preparation, presentation and service of school meals, whilst providing a safe, clean environment to pupils and staff. You will be required to lay out dining tables and chairs and, in some schools, operate a touch screen terminal - training will be provided upon start.

Cover at schools across the County Borough is a requirement of the role as well as having a Level Two Food Hygiene Certificate; training will be provided if necessary to help you obtain this.

Working hours will be confirmed upon appointment but will be between the hours of 10.00am and 2.30pm, to support the mid - morning break and lunchtime periods, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
