Job summary

Orwell Housing Association is seeking a Relief Cleaner at Christchurch House, Ipswich. The role involves cleaning across communal spaces, offices, kitchens and other shared areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

You will help ensure infection prevention and safety compliance, and manage cleaning equipment and storage to stay organised. We look for someone who takes pride in clean, safe environments, is reliable, and can work independently or with a team.

Qualifications

You’ll carry out cleaning duties across communal areas, offices, kitchens, bathrooms and other shared spaces, ensuring cleanliness, infection prevention and safety standards are maintained. You’ll also help keep cleaning equipment and storage areas organised and compliant with health and safety requirements.

We're looking for someone who:

• Takes pride in maintaining clean, safe and welcoming environments
• Is reliable, organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Has a positive and proactive approach to their work
• Understands the importance of health and safety, infection control and maintaining high standards
• Can manage their time effectively and respond flexibly to changing priorities
• Has previous cleaning experience or transferable skills in a similar environment

Christchurch House is conveniently located close to Ipswich town centre, offering easy access to shops, cafés, leisure facilities and excellent public transport links. Situated directly opposite the beautiful Christchurch Park, it provides a peaceful green space perfect for a relaxing walk during your lunch break.

The service provides temporary supported accommodation for young people, each supported through a personalised, outcome‑based plan.
