Job summary

CrossReach Trading Ltd. is seeking a Relief Care Worker to support older residents with dignity, independence and comfort in a busy care setting in Scalloway, Shetland. You will work across shifts, assisting with personal care, meals and daily activities while building meaningful relationships.

Training and support are provided. Applicants should be compassionate, adaptable and ready to contribute to a high standard of person-centred care, with PVG and SSSC registration obligations to meet.

Qualifications

Job description

Situated on the waterfront in Scalloway, Shetland, The Walter & Joan Gray provides residential and respite care for up to 16 older people. The home offers a comfortable, welcoming environment with strong connections to the surrounding community. Care and support are tailored to each resident's individual needs and preferences, helping people maintain their independence, enjoy meaningful social connections and feel valued and supported throughout their stay.

As a Relief Care Worker, you'll support older people to live with dignity, independence and comfort. You'll work across shifts as needed, helping residents with daily routines, personal care and companionship while providing high-quality support when it's needed most.
Whether you're experienced in care or looking for a new direction, we'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

About you

You will be kind, dependable and able to adapt to different situations and shifts. You'll enjoy helping others and understand the importance of treating every resident with dignity, respect and compassion. Previous experience in care is welcome but not essential. We're equally interested in people with the right values, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. You will hold, or be willing to work towards, an SVQ Level 3 in Social Services and Healthcare. This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme and registration with the SSSC.
