At a glance

The Transaction Banking Relationship Manager reports to the Head of Relationship Management for Transaction Banking in the United Kingdom. This is a key role within the Transaction Banking team in the UK and Transaction Banking is a core business within ABN AMRO’s Corporate Banking Clients (CBC) division within the bank. We are client-driven, a bank with a moderate risk profile that will continue to invest in the future and pursue sustainable growth.

TBH UK provides cash management and trade finance solutions to UK companies and non-bank financial institutions, and also supports inbound companies that are clients of ABN AMRO’s CBC business worldwide. TBH UK is led by the Head of Transaction Banking located in London and the Head of Relationship Management leads a team of Relationship Managers with dedicated client portfolios aligned by segment, and tasked to grow TBH income through new deal origination across these existing client relationships, supporting existing clients with their cash, trade, working capital, treasury and risk management needs, and also originating new opportunities with CBC segment leads to cross-sell TBH solutions and drive increased returns for the bank.

Transaction Banking solutions include:

  • Cash Management (bank accounts, electronic banking, payments & collections, credit cards)

TBH Relationship Managers partner with Global Relationship Managers in CBC, and overseas Transaction Banking sales leads, to originate and win new business and then relationship manage a portfolio of high-income and high-growth clients.

To support new business origination, TBH Relationship Managers will engage with local product specialists to provide specific product expertise, and work with key partners and stakeholders in Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Operations to provide best in class services and support to our clients.

TBH Relationship Managers ensure that we win new business, and protect existing client income, across our most valued clients when value, solution, relationship and trust are determining factors.

The TBH Relationship Manager is responsible for:

  • Acting as the UK contact for a designated portfolio of clients in order to support their business activities, help the clients solve their key cash, trade, and working capital challenges and to grow their businesses.
  • Coordinating regular account plans with CBC Global Relationship Managers (GRMs) and Transaction Banking sales teams in the UK and Netherlands which will include regular strategic meetings with their clients.
  • Identifying opportunities for new business through understanding the client’s business objectives and challenges, and positioning ABN AMRO’s transaction banking products/services to meet those objectives.
  • Informing and advising GRMs on matters of importance related to mutual clients. Collect information in order to provide preparatory and commercial support to GRMs in general client contact, credit and acquisition duties.
  • Collecting and analysing internal and external data regarding the client’s business strategy, wider market developments, product performance, and financial performance of clients.
  • Be the escalation point for their clients in the event of service issues to resolve matters within ABN AMRO policies and procedures, and through close coordination with partners in CBC, Operations, Service, Compliance, Technology and any other areas as necessary.
  • Ensuring any customer complaints are handled properly in line with ABN AMRO’s policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in advisory and input into continuous improvement of processes within the transaction banking business.
  • Discussing with customers their short term funding (financing) requirements and coordinating credit application processes, as well as annual reviews, by working with relevant Risk functions to ensure a smooth credit facility implementation.
  • Consulting external databases (Chamber of Commerce, HR, Land - Register, D&B, Reach, sector info, etc.) with a view to obtaining information on clients and prospects for mini marketing plans and the acquisition of new relations.
  • Collaborating with the Detecting Financial Crime (\"DFC\") unit to help facilitate Periodic and Event Driven reviews as part of the annual Client Due Diligence process under Client Lifecycle. While the DFC unit handles the majority of client outreach, the Relationship Manager ’s role is to help with timely and accurate coordination to support this process, if necessary.
  • Pro‑active and quick follow‑up and updating client information in relevant applications and tools such as Client Relationship Management (\"CRM\") system Microsoft Dynamics used for entering call reports, new leads and opportunities and managing the deal lifecycle end to end.

Your profile

Experience and Education

· Preference for minimum 2 years of Transaction Banking Sales, or Relationship Management experience with a UK, European regional or Global Bank or;

· Financial Services, Corporate Treasury, or Payments Industry sales or commercial experience that can be applied to a banking environment

· Preference for degree or equivalent education
