Job description

The Vacancy

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Relationship Manager within our Hymans Robertson Investment Services team on a full-time basis.

What will your role look like?

This role of a Relationship Manager is a new and key role to the business and therefore needs to be undertaken by someone with experience of working in a similarly demanding and accountable role. Hymans Robertson launched a new Tailored Model Portfolio Service into the retail market in April 2021 focusing on quality regional advisor firms. We are looking for individuals with the appropriate experience and skill set to perform this role within our existing BDM team. Since launch we have added £4.5b in AUM.

  • Work with Relationship Directors to develop and implement focused business development plans for their territories.
  • Use Finscape data, networking and market research to identify and prioritise prospective advice firms.
  • Deliver structured prospecting activity through calls, emails, meetings and event follow-up.
  • Arrange and lead introductory meetings with prospective firms where appropriate.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and develop a clear understanding of their business goals, client needs and challenges.
  • Attend industry events, conferences and seminars to develop relationships with prospective and existing firms.
  • Support Relationship Directors throughout the new business process, including opportunity qualification, presentations, workshops, due diligence and proposals.
  • Take increasing responsibility for progressing and converting new business opportunities, working with Relationship Directors and the investment team.
  • Act as a formal point of contact for existing client firms and help deliver a high-quality client experience.
  • Develop trusted relationships with client firms and, over time, take responsibility for managing selected relationships.
  • Work with client firms to understand their business goals and identify where HRIS can add value.
  • Coordinate and attend client review meetings, own agreed actions and issue clear follow-up information.
  • Work with the investment, operations and wider teams to support presentations, onboarding and the implementation of new client relationships.
  • Ensure client firms have access to the right people, information and resources across Hymans Robertson Investment Services.
  • Maintain accurate CRM and pipeline records and provide clear management information on activity, opportunities and client engagement.
  • Work with marketing and Relationship Directors to support campaigns, events and client communications.
  • Build and maintain a strong understanding of the HRIS proposition, market developments and regulatory change affecting advice firms.
  • Adhere to the firm's Information Security standards, policies and procedures.
To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Experience within the retail investment, discretionary fund management or financial advice market.
  • Experience in business development, relationship management or client servicing.
  • A strong understanding of the UK financial advice market.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for growth.
  • The ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • An understanding of the regulatory environment affecting financial advice firms.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both spoken and written formats.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong listening, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, positive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
  • A willingness to travel regularly and represent HRIS at prospect and client meetings, events and conferences.

We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support.

In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:
  • A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
  • A collaborative and encouraging work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
  • On site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
  • A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
  • Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.
  • Hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments – with the expectation of two ‘in-office’ days per week.
  • A flexible working window, allowing colleagues the freedom to work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

Please note, we recruit on a rolling basis, so early applications are recommended to avoid disappointment.
