Barclays in the Midlands is seeking a Relationship Director within the Mid Corporate team to manage a targeted client portfolio, drive income, and ensure outstanding service.

You will develop deep, multi-stakeholder relationships, apply rigorous risk controls, and design bespoke solutions across debt, cash, trade, FX, and working capital for a diverse client base. Based in Staffordshire, Wolverhampton or Shrewsbury, you’ll collaborate across teams to deliver value.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading deal teams to deliver client transactions, products or services.
  • Influential professional presence with the ability to call, meet and negotiate with clients.
  • Good working knowledge of corporate banking products and services including debt, cash management, card payments, trade & working capital and FX solutions.
  • Credit skills and debt finance with risk accreditation L1 or L2 or strong financial understanding.
  • Broad understanding/knowledge of Staffordshire, Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury.

Join us at Barclays as a Relationship Director working within the Mid Corporate team. As a Relationship Director you will be responsible for managing a specific portfolio of clients. You will be developing income and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction from this portfolio through creating deep, multi-stakeholder relationships with both existing and new contacts whilst ensuring effective risk management.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications
  • You should already have some experience in being part of or had led deal teams to deliver client transactions, products or services.
  • Influential and professional personal and written skills and client presence with the ability to call, meet and negotiate with clients as the point of contact.
  • Requires a good working knowledge of corporate banking products and services including those linked to debt, cash management, card payments, trade & working capital and FX solutions being particularly relevant to your role.
  • Credit skills and debt finance – has risk accreditation L1 or 2 or at a minimum a demonstrable financial understanding of business with the ability to undertake L2 within 6 months.
  • Has a broad understanding/knowledge of the local area within Staffordshire, Wolverhampton, and Shrewsbury.
Desirable Skills/Preferred Qualifications
  • Established or existing account management and business development skills and achievements.
  • Debt finance appraisal skills directly relevant to Corporate Banking.

Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long‑term success.

Accountabilities
  • Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs.
  • Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, risk management and wealth management strategies and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
  • Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses.
  • Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.
  • Execution of market research and analysis to support the identification of potential new opportunities, market trends, and customer needs, to develop strategies for business growth.
