Job summary

Acin Recruit is seeking an experienced Reinsurance Technician in London, hybrid role within a well-established London Market insurer. You will support administration and technical processing of the outwards reinsurance programme, with a strong focus on post-placement operations, recoveries, collections, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support administration of outwards reinsurance purchases (facultative, proportional, excess of loss).
• Manage post-placement administration and ensure information is recorded across systems and reporting platforms.
• Produce collection and advice notes from notification to settlement including reinstatement premiums.
• Prepare quarterly quota share statements.
• Monitor reinsurance collections and communicate with brokers.
• Coordinate with Claims, Underwriting, Finance and other stakeholders to resolve queries delaying collections.
• Calculate premium adjustments and profit commissions as per contracts.
• Assist with reconciliation of claims and reinstatement premiums.
• Review outstanding reinsurance balances and conduct aged-debt reviews.
• Support recovery credit control and timely collection of amounts due.
• Assist monthly, quarterly and annual financial closes related to reinsurance and recoveries.
• Produce accurate reinsurance reporting reflecting policies and protections.
• Respond to Finance queries on balances and reconciliations.
• Maintain documentation per procedures.
• Build relationships with brokers and stakeholders.
• Identify process improvements for efficiency, controls and reporting.

Job Title: Reinsurance Technician

Overview:

An opportunity for an experienced reinsurance professional to join a well-established London Market insurance business, supporting the administration and technical processing of its outwards reinsurance programme.

The role has a strong focus on post-placement operations, reinsurance recoveries, collections, credit control and reporting. You will work across facultative, proportional and excess of loss arrangements, ensuring recoveries are processed accurately and efficiently while working closely with brokers and internal stakeholders.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong Lloyd's market reinsurance experience who is comfortable managing detailed technical processes, meeting strict deadlines and identifying opportunities to improve existing procedures and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the administration of outwards reinsurance purchases, including facultative, proportional and excess of loss contracts.
• Manage post-placement administration and ensure reinsurance information is recorded accurately across relevant systems and reporting platforms.
• Produce collection and advice notes from initial notification through to settlement, including reinstatement premiums.
• Prepare quarterly quota share statements in accordance with contractual terms and agreed deadlines.
• Monitor the progress of outwards reinsurance claims collections and maintain regular communication with brokers.
• Liaise with Claims, Underwriting, Finance and other stakeholders to resolve queries that may delay collections.
• Calculate premium adjustments and profit commissions in line with contractual requirements.
• Support the processing and reconciliation of claims and reinstatement premiums against finance transactions.
• Review and resolve outstanding or unagreed reinsurance balances.
• Conduct regular aged-debt reviews and ensure outstanding balances are followed up appropriately.
• Support reinsurance recovery credit control and the timely collection of amounts due.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes relating to reinsurance and recoveries.
• Produce accurate and concise reinsurance reporting reflecting the policies and protections in place.
• Respond to Finance queries relating to balances and reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with agreed procedures.
• Build effective working relationships with brokers and other stakeholders involved in outwards reinsurance operations.
• Review existing processes, procedures and system utilisation, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, controls and reporting.
• Ensure all activities are completed in line with relevant policies, procedures and agreed service standards.

What We're Looking For:

• Strong reinsurance experience gained within a Lloyd's market insurer, syndicate, broker or comparable London Market environment.
• Practical understanding of outwards reinsurance and post-placement processes.
• Experience supporting reinsurance recoveries, collections and associated technical processing.
• Understanding of facultative, proportional and excess of loss reinsurance arrangements.
• Strong numerical skills with the ability to work accurately with financial and reinsurance data.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work to strict deadlines.
• Confidence working independently while contributing effectively within a wider team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to resolving queries and improving operational processes.

Desirable but Not Essential:

• Understanding of London Market reinsurance processing systems, including LORS.
• Experience with reinsurance claims collections and associated reconciliation processes.
• Experience producing quota share statements and calculating premium adjustments, reinstatement premiums and profit commissions.
• Knowledge of aged-debt management and reinsurance credit control.
• Relevant London Market or insurance qualifications, such as LIT, LM1 or LM2.
• Experience identifying and implementing improvements to reinsurance processes, reporting or systems.
