Want to Make a Genuine Difference?

Join Their Team and Help a Young Man Live Life to the Full! Are you enthusiastic, compassionate, and ready to bring energy and positivity into someone's life?

The client is recruiting a team of support workers to provide 24-hour one-to-one support. They're seeking the right team to support a young man in his 30s who is navigating life after a brain injury. He has a great sense of humour, big dreams, and a strong desire to live as independently as possible, make new friends, and explore his community.

While he experiences significant cognitive challenges and needs support with planning, organising and staying engaged, he's full of potential - and he's looking for someone who believes in him and can empower him to increase his independence and experience some fun along the way. The client is registered blind due to having a visual impairment.

The Support Worker Role:
  • Initially, shifts will be daytime only (Monday to Sunday, 08:15-20:30). However, as the care package develops, the shift pattern will transition to a 24-hour rota, including sleep-in nights.
  • Support with daily routines and planning activities, and engage him in enjoyable and meaningful pursuits.
  • Encourage social connection and participation in the community.
  • Help foster independence and confidence in everyday tasks – assist with cooking, shopping, general tidying, attending appointments, and any other activities the day brings.
  • Be a fun company to accompany and support the Client with his exercise routine at the gym, cycling on his adapted bike, and trips away.
  • Be a reliable, friendly presence-and share a laugh or two along the way!
  • You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and under the guidance of the client's therapists to assist in his rehabilitation.
About You:
  • You're compassionate, patient, and upbeat - with a great sense of humour.
  • You've supported people with physical or cognitive impairments before, and you're keen to learn.
  • You're organised, proactive, and genuinely want to empower others.
  • You're open to flexible hours and a role that's as rewarding as it is unique.
  • You must be a driver.
  • The ability to assist the client with his smart equipment - training and guidance will be provided.
  • Experience of working with individuals who are registered blind would be beneficial.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Experience of working with individuals with a brain injury would also be an advantage.
  • Great sense of humour.
What does the role offer you?
  • Induction and training offering support and guidance.
  • Working as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Regular supervisions and appraisals with your Team Leader and Case Manager.
  • The opportunity to use your initiative and bring in new ideas to improve the client's life.
