Job summary

South Ribble Borough Council and Chorley Borough Council seek an experienced Regulatory lawyer to join their Shared Legal Services team. You will provide expert legal advice across two councils on civil and criminal matters, prosecutions, planning enforcement, and procurement, representing the councils in courts and committees.

You will draft reports for Cabinet and senior officers, drive major projects, and ensure governance in property transactions.

Qualifications

Qualified legal professional with experience in prosecutions, litigation, planning enforcement, licensing, data protection/FOI, contracts and public procurement.
Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality legal services across two councils, with focus on civil and criminal litigation.
Advise officers and members on prosecutions, litigation, planning enforcement, licensing, data protection/FOI, contracts and procurement.
Lead on major projects and represent councils in courts, tribunals, and committees.
Prepare and advise on reports for Cabinet, Committees and senior officers.
Promote legal compliance and good governance in property transactions.
Collaborate to ensure effective operation of Legal Services.
