Job summary

Anakin Seal Legal in Leeds is seeking an Assistant Lawyer to join its Regulatory / HSE / Inquests practice on a full-time basis or 4 days per week, with hybrid working and one office day.

You will work with senior lawyers on investigations, defend businesses and individuals, handle regulatory and criminal defence matters, draft statements, attend hearings, and build relationships with insurers.

Qualifications

• Experience in criminal law, regulatory law, health & safety, inquests, transport regulatory work or a closely related area
• Strong advocacy and client care skills
• Excellent drafting and organisational abilities
• A proactive and commercial approach
• The ability to work collaboratively within a specialist team
• A willingness to attend courts, police stations and client meetings when required

Responsibilities

• Assisting with regulatory and criminal defence matters
• Reviewing and analysing evidence and disclosure
• Collating and managing case documentation
• Taking witness statements
• Drafting instructions to Counsel and expert witnesses
• Attending court hearings and inquests as required
• Supporting clients during investigations and interviews under caution
• Developing relationships with insurer and commercial clients
• Progressively managing your own caseload as experience develops
