Job summary

Haven in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to join our Legal team on a hybrid basis (3 days in office). This permanent, full-time role leads regulatory matters, including FCA and Gambling Commission, ensuring compliant operations across the business.

You will advise the board and Executive team on consumer finance, financial crime controls, and corporate governance, translating complex regulations into practical policy and risk management.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
• End-to-end consumer finance expertise gained in-house or in private practice.
• Experience in financial services, lending, consumer credit or motor finance.
• Knowledge of consumer credit laws and regulations and consumer duty.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the lead advisor to Haven on regulatory matters including FCA, Gambling Commission and wider statutory obligations.
• Be a trusted adviser to the Haven board, providing regular reporting and constructive challenge.
• Provide expert legal, regulatory, compliance, corporate governance and conduct risk advice to the Executive team and internal stakeholders.
• Provide consumer lending advice and compliance oversight.
• Provide guidance on financial crime and money laundering, overseeing processes and controls for ongoing compliance.
• Oversee FCA obligations for Haven, ensuring robust processes and controls.
• Support governance of the Guernsey insurance captive and regulatory initiatives.
• Advise on financial promotions and advertising from a regulatory perspective.
• Develop and oversee policies and procedures to ensure legal adherence.
• Assist in investigations of incidents relating to legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
• Support commercial projects with pragmatic legal and regulatory advice.

If so, we want to hear from you! Haven is looking for a highly experienced Regulatory Counsel to join our Legal team.
