Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Locum Governance Lawyer to deliver expert legal advice on regulatory and compliance matters for a Local Authority. This role offers remote working with an initial duration of 3 months, extendable to 6 months, and provides a competitive rate of up to £500 per day. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in the public sector and relevant legal qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience in the Public Sector, as a Legal and Governance professional.

Locum Governance Lawyer – Up to £500 per day (Umbrella) – 3-6 Months – Remote Working

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are working with a well-established Local Authority who are seeking an experienced Regulatory, Compliance & Governance Lawyer to join their team on an interim basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a Local Authority who are experiencing a period of change, and to make real impact in a short period of time.

Role Overview
  • Position: Locum Regulatory, Compliance & Governance Lawyer
  • Location: Remote working (office-attendance preferred but not essential)
  • Duration: Initial 3 months with option to extend to 6 months
  • Rate: Up to £500 per day (Umbrella)
  • Hours: Full time preferred, part time considered
Key Responsibilities
  • Providing expert legal advice on regulatory, compliance and governance matters across the Local Authority’s functions
  • Supporting the development, implementation and review of governance frameworks, policies and constitutional documents
  • Advise on statutory powers, decision‑making processes and compliance with public law and local government legislation
  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of legal agreements, reports and committee documentation
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience in the Public Sector, as a Legal and Governance professional
