The Opportunity

As a Registration Service Officer, you will support people through some of the most important and sensitive moments in their lives. You do not need previous registration experience. We will provide comprehensive training and support to help you develop the specialist knowledge and confidence required to carry out the role.

You will join a dedicated and experienced team that is committed to providing the best possible service to Essex residents. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, takes pride in getting things right and can remain calm and professional when dealing with sensitive situations.

The role is primarily based at Basildon Library, with regular working at Rayleigh and Benfleet Libraries. You may also need to travel to other locations within the operational area, and some training may take place in Chelmsford. During your initial training period, you will work a weekday instead of a Saturday.

Because travel is required, you will need a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or another reliable way of meeting the mobility requirements of the role.

  • Can organise their workload and respond to changing priorities.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office and web-based systems, or can learn new systems quickly.
