Job description

Here at Axe Valley Veterinary Practice, we are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team. We are based in rural Somerset with lots of lovely walks on the doorstep in Blackford. Well behaved dogs are welcome to come to work too.

Overview

The position will include a range of nursing responsibilities to include Nurse Clinics, Anaesthetics, Inpatient Care and Laboratory work. The role may involve working across multiple sites, but we can be flexible for the right candidate. The practice is well equipped with extensive diagnostic and clinical tools including endoscopy, ultrasonography, digital radiography (including dental radiography) and an in-house laboratory, among other facilities.

Our team

Currently we have 12 Veterinary Surgeons, including 2 Medicine Certificate holders, 1 Surgical Certificate holder, 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, 2 Animal Nursing Assistants and 16 support staff across our sites.

Working hours

Shifts are 40 hours a week, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, ranging from 7:00am to 7:00pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. An attractive weekend rota 1 in 9 at our Blackford branch; 8:30am–1:00pm Saturday and 8:30am–10:30am on Sunday, with on-call coverage 8:00am–7:00pm both days. Weekend shifts and overtime are paid on top of normal salary.
