Overview

Do you love Sea/Sand/Sun... would you like to work with a sea view and enjoy a stroll on the beach at lunchtime? An exciting opportunity has arisen at our small animal practice in Penzance Vets for Pets for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and welcoming team.

Based on the Penzance Retail Park, our bright, spacious, air conditioned surgery is purpose built to industry leading standards with state-of-the-art equipment including digital X-ray and in-house laboratory facilities. We are near St Michael’s Mount as well as some fantastic beaches, so you could enjoy a lunchtime walk along the seafront. The coastal path from Penzance to St Ives offers outdoor opportunities on your days off.

Responsibilities
  • Admit patients and monitor anaesthetics, recovering and discharging patients with support from ANAs and an SVN with turning around theatre and patient prep.
  • Work as part of a team under supervision of veterinarians, rotating through roles such as admits, theatre/opera, consults, dispensary, and other duties as needed.
  • Assist with routine and emergency cases, triage, minor surgery, x-rays, and blood tests.
  • Maintain equipment and support a busy practice with regular CPD and hands-on duties.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative environment and assist with cleaning and prep for the next day.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Good general nursing experience and excellent customer service skills.
  • Cheerful, down-to-earth, enthusiastic approach with a genuine interest in animal welfare.
  • Willingness to develop further skills in line with the practice’s needs.
  • Full or Part Time hours available with a 1 in 4 Saturday schedule; Open Monday to Friday 08:30am–07:00pm and Saturday 08:30am–3:00pm.
Team & Development

You will have support from a dedicated team of 4 Vets, 3 Receptionists and 2 Veterinary Care Assistants. We are committed to helping you grow in your career with opportunities for certificates and ongoing development funded by the practice.
