Registered veterinary nurse
Location: Kent
Salary: Salary package £25,000 to £33,000
Hours: Full or part time
About us:
Join us and take a deep breath.
We encourage and enable our nurses to find their mojo again. Enjoy relaxing in an environment that is not driven by client spend. We firmly believe that clients know when staff are happy and are enjoying what they do. Happy staff, happy clients, happy pets, and the rest will take care of itself because we believe that the success of a practice depends on pet owners being treated with respect and meeting staff that enjoy their work. We always have time to explain, take time to care and we make time to talk. We demonstrate by our actions that veterinary nursing is still a vocation, a privilege and very enjoyable. When a client deals with a member of staff who obviously enjoys what they do, that client will instinctively know that their pet is in a safe and caring environment. Veterinary staff don’t need spending targets when they are enthusiastic and believe in what they can do for animals.
We have a lovely team that enjoys each other’s company. We try and keep staffing levels high enough to make sure those manic kind of days still run as smoothly as possible.
“Hi John, went to surgery this morning and Jed had a thorough examination. Good atmosphere in the surgery, nice and quiet but still busy! Just thought I would let you know I think you have a great team there. Thanks again” — Brian
The Role:
You will have a share of responsibilities, spending time between the surgical, medical and nurse clinic duties. This will ensure you have a healthy mix of talking to clients, staff and animals. We are fully committed to nurse clinics and are always looking to make more use of them.
A typical working week is 37.5 hours. Saturdays are 1:3 rota working 8:30-1. Time off in lieu is given for working Saturdays. We don’t open on Sundays. There is no OOH. Overtime is generously rewarded because we appreciate when you go out of your way to help us.
The Package:
Location:
The surgery is situated in the most beautiful part of Kent. Hawkinge is a delightful community of young families. There is a friendliness about the practice that is driven as much by our ethos as by the clients. There is lovely countryside and farmland everywhere. Enjoy walking through the North Downs AONB. The lovely Cinque Port of Hythe is only 6 miles away, Dover port and Eurotunnel are minutes away by car. Fast train to London is only 55minutes. Why wouldn’t you want to live here?
The Company:
We opened our doors in 2016 and have been enjoying operating as an independent veterinary surgery ever since. We attract clients and staff who are happier not to be with a corporate. The staff that join us and stay are happier with the slower pace even though we are a busy practice and getting busier each year. We have staff that have been with us since the day we opened and others that have been with us just a few years.
We have a lovely modern building. It is compact and efficient for 2-3 vets and a full nursing team to work together. We have enough equipment and skill sets to deal with more than just routine stuff and we try and keep referrals to a minimum. Air conditioning keeps everything running well in the summer heat.
We are constantly investing in equipment and try and keep an open mind and are happy to welcome ideas that a new member of staff may suggest or that someone brings back from CPD.
