Join Medivet Dorchester 24 Hour as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in a supportive, well-equipped hospital environment. You'll be part of a dedicated team providing exceptional care and have opportunities for professional development. Ideal candidates are RCVS registered nurses passionate about animal care in a fast-paced setting.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and experienced team at Medivet Dorchester 24 Hour, a recently refurbished hospital located just a short drive from the breathtaking Jurassic Coast.
This is a full-time role, covering ideally 40 hours per week across a rotating shift pattern (early and late shifts), with weekend work (on a rota basis) essential to maintain hospital rota coverage. We’re also happy to consider part-time applicants, provided weekend availability remains fixed. This role is ideal for someone looking to make the most of a diverse caseload in a busy, well-equipped hospital, working alongside an outstanding clinical team.
Dorchester 24 Hour is a multi-disciplinary hospital with a strong regional presence, providing out-of-hours cover for five Medivet branches and seven non-Medivet practices. You’ll be part of a vibrant, supportive team that includes certificate holders in diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology and ECC, with several vets also working towards additional qualifications in surgery.
Our nursing team is central to everything we do. We’re an RCVS-accredited training practice with 24-hour vet and nurse coverage, so you’ll have the opportunity to use your full skillset and learn from others across theatre, diagnostics, emergency care and inpatient nursing. Our supportive leadership fosters a strong nurse-led culture where you’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your development and special interests.
Our facilities and services include:
CT scanner (internal and outpatient referrals)
Digital x-ray and ultrasound
Endoscopy
Two sterile surgical suites
Dedicated in-house laboratory
Hydrotherapy unit (staffed two days per week)
Peripatetic physiotherapist
Isolation facilities
Separate dog and cat wards, plus ISFM Silver Cat Friendly status
24/7 care supported by ECC-certified night vet and nursing team
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience in small animal practice. You’ll be confident working in a fast-paced environment and enjoy both team collaboration and independent nursing responsibility. Above all, you’ll share our core values of being caring, progressive and trustworthy, and you’ll take pride in delivering exceptional care to patients and clients alike.
If you’re ready to thrive in a busy hospital environment and want to be part of a passionate, high-performing team, we’d love to hear from you.
