Job description
Opportunity

Due to service expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for GPhC‑registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our team. We welcome applicants from community or other pharmacy sectors, and previous hospital experience is not essential.

This is a Band 4/5 progression post, with Band 5 covering accredited checking (if not already achieved) and leadership development for those already holding ACT status. You will complete a comprehensive in‑house competency programme, including supervisory and leadership training, to equip you with the skills needed for hands‑on line management once competent. If you thrive in a busy, fast‑paced environment, enjoy learning new skills and are motivated to improve patient experience, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent patient care for inpatients, outpatients and external units.
  • Work with the EPIC electronic prescribing system and Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets to deliver an accurate, timely and cost‑effective pharmacy service.
  • Accurately label, dispense and check a wide range of prescriptions, including controlled drugs, clinical trials, TPN, chemotherapy, home IV therapies and palliative care medicines.
  • Complete medicines management rotations that offer direct patient contact, including taking medication histories, medicines reconciliation, supporting safe and correct use of prescribed medicines and counselling patients on new treatments.
  • Receive a competency unit for each area to ensure full training is completed and competence is demonstrated before independent working is expected.
  • As a GPhC‑registered Pharmacy Technician, deliver high‑quality, safe and efficient pharmacy services.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Work independently while also contributing effectively within a large, diverse team, following established procedures, upholding professional standards and supporting the wider pharmacy service as needed.
Qualifications & Skills

Applicants must hold a GPhC registration and be able to progress through Band 4/5 roles, gaining accredited checking and leadership development. A strong commitment to patient safety, accurate dispensing, and the ability to learn new systems and practices are essential.
