Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a compassionate Staff Nurse for the Ophthalmology department. You will work as part of a friendly multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while adhering to professional standards.

You will contribute to ongoing learning, perform new ophthalmology skills, and support patient information to enable informed decisions. A supportive environment aims to develop careers and foster infection-control excellence.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate nursing skills to more junior members of the nursing team, to enable them to assist in the implementation of prescribed nursing actions.
• To ensure that an individual programme of care is planned, implemented and evaluated for each patient within own sphere of responsibility.
• To work as part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to the patients.
• To act as team leader including taking charge in the absence of Deputy Ward Manager/Ward Manager.
• To participate in all relevant aspects of the Governance process.
• You will adhere to the NMC code of Professional Conduct at all times and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Learn and perform new skills in relation to this specialty e.g. IV drug administration, defibrillation, venipuncture, ECG recording etc.

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Staff Nurse with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of the team here within our Ophthalmology department.

To ensure personal attendance at mandatory training.
