Job summary

Highgate Care is seeking a Registered Nurse for Foresters Lodge in Bridlington to deliver person-centred care to residents. The role covers night shifts within a supportive, small care group focused on Kindness Is Key values.

You will work under the supervision of the Person in Charge, maintaining care plans, coordinating with GPs and other health professionals, and ensuring a homely, well-run home for residents. An active NMC pin and experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active NMC registration.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Ability to work flexibly across some evenings and weekends.
• Warm, approachable and positive disposition.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of care per care plans and handover to ensure needs are met.
• Support junior staff to contribute to efficient home operations and a homely atmosphere.
• Report ill health to GP/professional visits when necessary.
• Ensure client care plans are completed with relatives and other professionals in line with NMC guidelines.
• Assess client care needs and provide health supervision and direct nursing care.
• Assess social and health care needs of new clients and review existing ones.
• Maintain individualised care plans and bi-annual reviews.
• Perform regular checks and provide concise handover to staff at shift end.
• Administer prescribed medications, dressings, catheterisations, tube feeding, and manage chronic conditions as per policy.
• Liaise with health and social care professionals to ensure holistic care.
• Practice with integrity regarding clients' personal and financial matters.
• Adhere to NMC Code of Conduct at all times.
• Maintain current NMC registration and pursue revalidation.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Registered Nurse, you’ll play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by:

• Responsible to the person in charge for high standards of care to the residents in his/her care in accordance with the care plan and by appropriate hand over to ensure all needs are continuously met.
• To help ensure all junior care and ancillary staff contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the Home and the creation of a homely atmosphere.
• Report any ill health amongst clients and make requests for GP/Professional visits where necessary.
• Ensure that Clients Care Plans are completed and maintained in conjunction with Clients, Relatives and other Health Care Professionals, and in accordance with NMC guidelines and Company policy.
• Assess all aspects of Clients care needs and provide health supervision and direct Nursing Care.
• Assess social and health care needs of new Clients and maintain on-going assessment and review of other clients.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure that each Client within the Care Home has an individualised Care Plan. Client Care Plans to be reviewed on a bi-annual basis or more frequently as and when required, in accordance with NMC guidelines and Company policy.
• Carry out regular checks on Clients at intervals determined by the Home Manager. Ensure a clear and concise handover report is given to all relevant Staff Members at the end of each shift.
• Undertake tasks including distribution of prescribed medication, dressings, catheterisation, tube feeding and appropriate intervention in the management of chronic medical conditions and document the same in accordance with the Company’s procedure and NMC guidelines.
• Liaise with health and social care professionals involved in the well being of individual residents to maintain an holistic approach to their care.
• Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Clients personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship exists with Clients.
• Acts at all times within NMC Code of Conduct.
• Maintain a current NMC registration.
• Be able to meet the criteria for Revalidation, maintaining a professional profile in accordance with NMC guidelines.
