The Medical Day Case Unit (MDCU) is a unit that provides a service to prevent hospital admission and improves patient experience. Our aim is to provide optimum quality of care to patients coming in for a day case procedure or intervention.

MDCU has opportunities for both experienced and newly qualified nurses who are caring, enthusiastic and driven to join this experienced and friendly team. We are looking for dynamic, efficient individuals who can work under pressure to support the team in providing effective treatment for patients whilst developing a wide variety of skills. Main duties of the job

To deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients receiving medical treatment. The post holders will be responsible for patient care needs, and for the implementation and evaluation of the procedure or interventions. The post holders are required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving a high standard and efficient nursing care within South Warwickshire University Foundation Trust.

Job responsibilities

Clinical

• Take clinical responsibility for patients within your allocated area of work.

• Ensure a high delivery of quality care in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and guidelines.

• Practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and scope of professional practice and maintain your NMC registration.
• In the absence of a senior colleague, and following appropriate induction and guidance, coordinate the shift and take management responsibility for admissions, transfers and discharges to the ward or department.
• Liaise with the multi‑disciplinary team to ensure an effective flow and communications within the area, including being available for Board and Ward Rounds as required.
