Healthcare Trainer (Registered Nurse RGN)

Location: Southampton & Bournemouth

Are you a Registered Nurse (RGN) with strong clinical skills and a passion for teaching and developing others?
We re seeking an experienced Healthcare Trainer to join a reputable care organisation based in the Southampton area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse who enjoys coaching, supporting staff, and ensuring that care delivery is always of the highest standard.

This is a full-time, permanent Monday Friday role offering excellent work life balance and the chance to make a real difference across a variety of care settings.

The Role

As the Healthcare Trainer, you will lead the delivery of both mandatory and complex clinical care training to care teams working across home care, supported living, and small residential services in the Southampton region.

You ll take ownership of training delivery, competency assessments, and clinical supervision ensuring all staff are skilled, confident, and compliant with CQC and Skills for Care standards.

This role is ideal for a Registered Nurse who thrives on variety, autonomy, and helping others grow in their clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and practical face-to-face training sessions, including:
    • Mandatory care training (Moving & Handling, Medication, Safeguarding, Infection Control, Basic Life Support, etc.)
    • Clinical and complex care training (Tracheostomy Care, PEG Feeding, Stoma Care, Catheterisation, Suctioning, Epilepsy & Buccal Midazolam, Oxygen Therapy, and other delegated healthcare tasks)
  • Assess and sign off care staff competencies for complex care procedures
  • Support with staff inductions, refresher courses, and ongoing professional development
  • Supervise and monitor the quality of clinical care being delivered
  • Maintain accurate training records and update the training matrix
  • Collaborate with managers and clinical leads to identify and address training needs
Requirements
  • Fully Registered Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration
  • Proven clinical experience with hands‑on skills in complex care
  • Experience delivering healthcare or clinical training (formal or informal)
  • Recognised training qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award in Education & Training or Train the Trainer)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and mentoring skills
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and record‑keeping
