Job summary

Spectrum Community Health CIC is recruiting a registered nurse to provide comprehensive primary health care within a prison, as part of the MDT. The post involves health assessments, administering medications, and delivering evidence-based interventions alongside physical and mental health teams.

You will work flexibly across the service, maintain clinical records, and uphold our values of Working Together, Integrity and Compassion. NHS pension and generous leave are among the benefits.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with NMC registration (Adult/General/Mental Health).
  • Mentorship / supervision / teaching / assessing experience or training.
  • Knowledge of current healthcare issues and working in a Health & Justice environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide health assessments, administer medications, perform diagnostic tests, and deliver evidence-based interventions.
  • Work flexibly across the service as part of the MDT to provide responsive care.

Job description

To provide a comprehensive physical health service as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team to patients with physical health needs within Health & Justice. In conjunction with the management team contribute to and deliver a comprehensive Primary Health Service in partnership with mental health and key stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary team within the prison setting.

This role involves undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, performing diagnostic tests, as appropriate, and providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to meet prisoner health and social care needs.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across the service to provide responsive, evidence-based interventions working alongside physical and mental health clinical teams.

The postholder will be part of a team that provides primary care within a prison, preventing transfer to outside hospitals. They will demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of health issues and treatment options and have a keen interest in developing knowledge and skills across the integrated services.

NMC Registered
  • Registered Nurse Level 1 - Adult / General/Mental Health
  • Mentorship / supervision/teaching / assessing experience/ training
Skills and Abilities
  • Able to work autonomous and part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload and that of other staff
  • Ability to work in a challenging and diverse environment
  • Keyboard skills - computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Officee
  • Able to maintain contemporaneous clinical records following clinical activities.
