Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care for patients with detailed knowledge of equipment.
  • Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care in consultation with senior staff.
  • Maintain standards in accordance with ward policies and procedures.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by complying with regulations.
  • Maintain safe custody of all drugs and demonstrate skills in IV drug management.
  • Work unsupervised using ward protocols.

Job description

Wensleydale Ward is an acute cardiology and respiratory medical ward with a high turnover of patients. The ward cares for patients requiring telemetry, non‑invasive ventilation (NIV) and cardiorespiratory monitoring, and receives patients from other medical specialties for cardiac monitoring and electrolyte imbalances.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide nursing care for patients, using detailed knowledge of equipment and specialized procedures.
  2. In consultation with senior staff, help plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  3. Maintain standards in accordance with ward, Trust policies and procedures, and the NMC code of conduct.
  4. Maintain a safe working environment, complying with Health & Safety regulations and the Environmental Health Act, and attend mandatory training courses.
  5. Maintain safe custody of all drugs and medicines, demonstrating the manipulation, dexterity and coordination of IV drugs.
  6. Work unsupervised at times, using ward protocols and policies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • NMC registration required.
  • Acute medical nursing experience.
  • Experience in telemetry and NIV preferred.
