A local hospice provider in Chesterfield is seeking a compassionate Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join their Inpatient Unit team. Salary : 32084 - 38421 (based on the full time equivalent of 37.5 hours)

Contract : 6 months fixed term

Job Family : Patient Care Range : D

Location : Ashgate Hospice Chesterfield

Hours : Part-time or Full time worked on a rota basis provided 8 weeks in advance. Day shift is 07 : 00-19 : 30 and the night shift is 19 : 00-07 : 30. We may be able to offer shorter day shifts for further flexibility.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role you will provide expert palliative and end‑of‑life nursing care supporting patients and their families through difficult times. From assessing and implementing individualized care plans to ensuring effective symptom management, your compassionate approach will ensure dignity and comfort are prioritised.

You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team contributing to collaborative decision‑making and ensuring continuity of care. Acting as a shift leader when required you will mentor and support junior staff promoting a positive and supportive environment. Additionally your involvement in service improvements and quality initiatives will help shape the ongoing development of our exceptional care services.

What You’ll Bring

To succeed in this role you will need to be a Registered Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration. Experience in delivering compassionate care within a multidisciplinary team is essential along with excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.

A genuine passion for palliative and end‑of‑life care is crucial and you should have the ability to provide holistic support to patients and their families. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development will also be key as we will support you to enhance your skills through mentorship and training.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience in palliative care, oncology or a hospice setting.
  • Post‑registration qualification in palliative care or mentorship.
  • Familiarity with electronic patient record systems such as SystmOne.

Ashgate Hospice based in North Derbyshire offers free palliative and end‑of‑life care for adults with life‑limiting or incurable illnesses including cancer, neurological diseases and advanced heart, kidney and lung conditions. Last year we cared for over 2400 people. Our aim is to support our patients by keeping them informed, managing their symptoms and improving their quality of life from diagnosis onwards.
