South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is recruiting a CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Specialist Practitioner to join the Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service (NDT) at Springfield Hospital.

The post offers supervision and opportunities to develop expertise in neurodevelopmental assessment, with a focus on ADHD/ ASD assessments, school observations, and collaboration within an MDT to improve pathways for children and young people.

Qualifications

  • Registered professionals from Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy or other relevant backgrounds.
  • Experience working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental needs.
  • Willingness to develop specialist skills in neurodevelopmental assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior clinicians with ADHD and ASD assessments.
  • Screen referrals and contribute to clinical decision-making.
  • Undertake regular Mental Health welfare check-ins with families and CYP.
  • Perform SPA (Single Point of Access) duty role.
  • Facilitate risk assessments.
  • Undertake school observations and clinical observations.
  • Work within an MDT and support assessment pathways.
  • Collate and score standardised screening measures and write reports.
  • Complete audits, literature searches or develop resources for referrers, children, young people and families.
  • Help facilitate brief intervention groups for families.
  • Maintain excellent organisation and written and verbal communication.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Specialist Practitioner to join the Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service (NDT), based at Springfield Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for registered professionals from Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy and other relevant professional backgrounds, with experience of working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental needs, to develop specialist skills and broaden their clinical experience within a dynamic multidisciplinary service. The post holder will be supported through appropriate clinical supervision from an experienced senior clinician and will have opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills in neurodevelopmental assessment. The role would be particularly well suited to candidates who are keen to build a career within neurodevelopmental services and who aspire to undertake future training in neurodiversity.

The Main Role Within NDT Involves
  • supporting senior clinicians with ADHD and ASD assessments
  • screening referrals and contributing to clinical decision-making
  • undertaking regular Mental Health welfare check in calls to families and CYP
  • undertaking the SPA (Single Point of Access) duty role
  • facilitating risk assessments
  • undertaking school observations

  • working within an MDT and supporting assessment pathways

The role will also involve collating and scoring standardised screening measures, writing reports, and completing other general tasks required within NDT, such as completing audits, literature searches or developing resources within the NDT for referrers, children, young people and their families. There are also opportunities to help facilitate our brief intervention groups for families. Excellent organisation and written and verbal communication skills will be required.
