Main duties of the job
Essential requirements of a Registered Manager
- Full, clean, UK Driving Licence & access to a vehicle for work purposes
Previous experience in working within a residential home
Previous experience of managing an eating disorder service or working in an eating disorder environment.
2 years recent experience working as a CQC or Ofsted Residential/Registered Manager
Must hold the Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 qualification and be able to demonstrate a commitment towards continued professional development
Have excellent understanding of mental health and the issues young people face
Experience controlling and managing budgets
Skills in the recruitment, selection and retention of staff
Previous experience in writing detailed reports
Desirable Criteria of a Registered Manager
Level 5 qualification in management or health and social care

Job responsibilities
At Care in Mind our homes are always a hub of activity and energy where the young people can feel safe, and our staff enjoy coming to work.
We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a 56 bed residential home dedicated to young people with eating disorders. This is a pivotal role requiring clinical insight, strong leadership, and a commitment to evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of a 5 - 6 bed residential home for young people with complex mental health needs and challenging behaviours.
- Lead safeguarding within the service, ensuring accurate record-keeping and adherence to company policy.
- Maintain CQC registration and lead inspections, ensuring compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and related legislation.
- Empower staff to meet the holistic needs of young people physical, social, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual while managing incidents effectively and providing post-incident debriefs.
- Ensure effective communication with external professionals (GPs, CCG, community mental health services) and internal clinical teams.
- Oversee medication management, ensuring plans are accurate, understood, and followed by all staff.
- Drive recruitment of skilled and suitable employees to maintain a high-performing team.
2. Eating Disorder Care Leadership
- You will lead the implementation of structured meal and snack support programs, ensuring therapeutic prompts and exposure strategies are applied safely and consistently.
- Oversight includes monitoring physical health indicators such as weight, BMI, blood pressure, and ECGs in strict alignment with NICE guidelines.
- A key aspect is guiding staff to challenge eating disorder behaviours (e.g., food restriction, purging, avoidance) using evidence-based approaches like positive reinforcement and Safewards principles.
3. Clinical Collaboration
- Act as the central link between multidisciplinary professionalspsychiatrists, psychologists, dietitians, and clinical nurse specialiststo ensure care plans are integrated and holistic.
- Facilitate weekly dietetic reviews and psychoeducation sessions to support recovery and empower young people with knowledge about their condition.
4. Compliance & Governance
- Maintain compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards and all statutory requirements.
- Implement rigorous audits for care plans, risk management strategies, and physical health monitoring to uphold quality and safety.
- Provide clear leadership and supervision to the residential team fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
- Deliver specialist training in eating disorder management and ensure staffing levels and rota’s are effectively planned.
You will work over a 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday whilst supporting an On Call Rota alongside other Registered Managers. The job is highly rewarding and an excellent opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager to develop their career further.

Qualifications
- Must hold the Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 qualification or equivalent
- Level 5 qualification in management or health and social care
Experience
- Experience in working within residential services.
- 2 years previous experience working as a Residential/Registered Manager or equivalent role (Band 7 Nurse)
- Previous experience of managing an eating disorder service or working in an eating disorder environment
- Minimum of 12 months recent management experience.
Skills
